Check if your Deposit Certificate is up to date

During the application process, we ask you to enter some details about the deposit for your current home.

The details we need from you are:

  • Your current deposit amount (as shown on your certificate)

  • The number of tenants on the certificate

  • Your current address (including postcode)

The details you enter on your application should match what’s on the certificate.

What to do if something looks wrong on your certificate

If something doesn’t look quite right on your deposit certificate, here’s a guide on the steps you can take to get this updated.

As a first step, you can enter the details for your deposit into the Deposit Scheme’s website and double check if the information that’s being shown matches what’s on your certificate.

Here are the links to the different deposit scheme websites for the UK and Wales:

Common issues

A common issue that could arise is: you initially moved in with a partner or housemate(s), but someone has moved out. This could mean that you're now the only tenant in your current home but the previous tenant is still listed on the certificate.

Whilst you may have resolved the issue with the previous tenant(s) and returned any protected funds to them, you’ll still need to ensure that your deposit certificate is up to date and it reflects the current situation.

If you've checked your Deposit Certificate and noticed something doesn't look right, please reach out to your landlord or the estate agent to see whether this is something they can get updated for you.

In some cases, this may result in a dispute between you and the previous tenant(s).

We aren’t able to help out with the dispute itself but we can send you in the right direction to help get things sorted out.

Only your landlord or Estate Agent can look into getting your Deposit Certificate updated and help resolve any disputes.

Completing your application

Once your landlord/estate agent has changed the certificate to reflect the right details, simply login to your Fronted account to complete your application.
